Our Heritage
The Story of Grimscote Manor
A Victorian country house whose architecture and grounds have shaped its character for over a century.
A House Steeped in Character
Authentic Warwickshire Heritage
Grimscote Manor is more than a hotel. It is a genuine country house, its walls and grounds holding more than a century of stories. From its Victorian foundations to its life as a family-run hotel today, the manor has remained a distinctive presence in the Warwickshire countryside.
Our heritage is not a marketing layer applied to a modern building. It is the architecture itself, the panelled rooms, the mature trees, and the quiet atmosphere that can only come from time.

Through the Years
A Timeline of the Manor
From private country residence to family-run hotel
Mid-19th Century
The Early Foundations
Grimscote Manor was built as a private country residence, its red-brick façade and gabled rooftops embodying the high Victorian taste for romantic, Gothic-inspired country living. The estate was established across four acres of ancient Warwickshire woodland, chosen for its commanding position near the historic market town of Coleshill.
Victorian Era
The Architectural Character
The manor is a fine example of the era's domestic revival architecture. A prominent Jacobean-style gable, tall chimneystacks, and mullioned windows define the silhouette, while the panelled interior rooms, four-poster suites, and sweeping principal staircase preserve the atmosphere of a grand yet intimate country house. Much of the original joinery and plasterwork remains intact.
Estate Origins
The Gardens & Grounds
The four acres of mature gardens and woodland were laid out as a private pleasure ground. Specimen trees, sweeping lawns, and discreet pathways created a private retreat from the surrounding farmland. The grounds remain the heart of the guest experience today.
20th Century
From Private House to Hotel
Over the decades the house moved from private ownership into use as a country hotel. Careful stewardship preserved its architectural character while adapting the interior for hospitality. Original features, from the wood-panelled rooms to the fine fireplaces, were retained throughout the conversion.
Modern Era
A Family-Run Manor Today
Today Grimscote Manor is a family-run hotel and one of the region's most sought-after wedding venues. The house retains its authentic heritage atmosphere while offering modern comfort. Its proximity to Birmingham Airport, the NEC, and the M6/M42 has made it a discreet, characterful alternative to corporate hotels.
